Default xorg.conf overriden?

FreeBSD 8.0

Loading /usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/input//kbd_drv.so
(II) Module kbd: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
	compiled for 1.6.1, module version = 1.3.2
	Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 4.0
(**) AT Keyboard: always reports core events
(**) Option "Protocol" "standard"
(**) AT Keyboard: Protocol: standard
(**) Option "AutoRepeat" "500 30"
(**) Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
(**) AT Keyboard: XkbRules: "xorg"
(**) Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
(**) AT Keyboard: XkbModel: "pc105"
(**) Option "XkbLayout" "us"
(**) AT Keyboard: XkbLayout: "us"
(**) Option "CustomKeycodes" "off"
(**) AT Keyboard: CustomKeycodes disabled
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "AT Keyboard" (type: KEYBOARD)
Section "InputDevice"
	Identifier " Keyboard0"
	Driver "kbd"
        Option "CoreKeyboard"
        Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
        Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
        Option "XkbLayout" "gb"
Is something overriding my xorg.conf file,I need a gb XkbLayout but log tells me I have a us one.
As you can guess my keyboard is not working properly, some keys in the wrong place.

Perhaps there is anything at /etc/xorg.conf?

Doesn't the log say which config file it's using?
UNIX was not designed to stop you from doing stupid things, because that would also stop you from doing clever things.

Looks like I am using config file /etc/X11/xorg.conf,if that is so,where does the "us"layout come from, when I have "gb" configured in xorg.conf.
AllowEmptyInput is on,but I do not have that in my xorg.conf.

AllowEmptyInput is on by default AFAIK. If you want to disable it, add it to the ServerFlags section and give it a off/false/0 value, case insensitive.

I may be wrong so don't quote me. But I think all these options have been removed from xorg.conf and should be configured through HAL (somewhere like /usr/local/etc/hal/fdi/policy/).
Or maybe try with setxkbmap. It should work and give you the least headaches.
May the source be with you!

Thank you for your help,"setxkbmap" did the trick.
The only key not working is the £ sign, when pressing that key I get lb instead of £.
If your wondering how I got the £ sign here,I am typing this on another machine.
