Using a LiveCD to gather info
I'm about to install FreeBSD onto a Sony Vaio laptop. From what I've read looking around the Internet, I'm in for a challenge. Vaios aren't that *nix friendly.
The model is a Sony VGN-A297XP with a 17" screen. I can't really find any specifications for the screen online, so I thought it might be a good idea to use a live CD and see what that reports. I don't know if this is a good idea. Does a live CD generate a xorg.conf file? Does it matter if I use a FreeBSD live CD or can I just grab a Linux live CD? Thanks! |
