installing linux on freeBSD
Hey everybody,
I have a laptop that only has FreeBSD with BIOS version "IBM - 1" which was last updated 11/30/99. I would like to replace FreeBSD with Ubuntu, and I already burned an install CD, but I am having problems figuring out how to instruct the boot loader to boot from the CD. I am new to this and would greatly appreciate any assistance, Regards, Freddy |

What anomie suggested is one option. Another is that some laptops give you a boot device list, normally by pressing one of the function keys. Here, you can pick what you want to boot from.

Sounds good, I'll look into it over the next few days.
Thanks! |

You should also prepare the floppy version of super grub disk, in case your laptop lacks the option to boot off CD's (common thing with ancient PC's running ancient BIOS's).
