Image artifacts with nvidia-driver

I have a Dell Precision 490 with an nVidia Quadro FX in it:

I installed the port (currenly at 173.14.09) with the following options:
WITHOUT_FREEBSD_AGP=true
WITHOUT_VM86_INT10CALL=true
WITHOUT_ACPI=true
WITH_LINUX=true

These are legacy options from 169.12 but apparently are still valid.

When I first start up windowmaker my screen looks like it has been been put through a shredder and then only a few strips have been put back in place. As I move my mouse around, those strips generally increase showing more and more of my background. This wasn't a really big problem for me since it only seemed to be my background that was impacted and I could take any terminal window and 'scrub' my screen with it until everything showed up.

That was, until Firefox3 came out. Now Firefox3 is doing it with many of the graphics on sites like YouTube. Sometimes the whole image is blanked out with just a few strips in it, sometimes most of the image is there, but has multi-colored strips running through it.

It's become very annoying.

Anyone have suggestions on how I might get rid of these image artifacts?

Did you try another drivers like nv or vesa? Did the artifacts appear there?
