what problem? what fix?
syslogd is writing to /var/log/security if there is anything with security.* facility
if there isn't syslogd doesn't write into anything

Not a lot writes there .. I've had my laptop since Aug 22, 2008. That's what the timestamp of /var/log/security is ..

Code:
Aug 22 17:12:32 box newsyslog[793]: logfile first created

The problem is the /var/log/security is always empty, do not have LOG any.
But the /etc/syslog.conf already has the line;

security.* /var/log/security

It seems happened from FreeBSD 7.0 to 7.2 with the same problem.

Apparently only auditd logs there on one of my servers.

ipfw(8) also logs to LOG_SECURITY (the security facility).

@paul-lkw: Instead of worrying about what is / is not in /var/log/security, please explain the exact information you are looking for. You may just need to be pointed to a different log to discover it.
