Default FreeBSD 7.0 + Skype problem

Hi!

I'm experiencing some problems with the skype port (/usr/ports/net/skype) under FreeBSD 7.0. I've read the instructions for installing Skype under FreeBSD 7.0 in UPDATING, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

I have linux_base-fc6 installed and have already set compat.linux.osrelease=2.6.16, etc.. and this is the error which I get when I try to run skype.
Code:
> skype

I didn't have any problems to run skype when I was running FreeBSD 6.2 + KDE.

Could it be my WM the problem which is XFCE now, btw?

I seriously doubt that it's because of WM.

i think it's problem related with fc-6 libraries
EDIT: and/or skype

You may want to try using skype 1.2 (net/skype12), in my experience skype 2 and linux_base-fc6/osrelease=2.6 are far from stable.

I spent considerable amount of time trying to get skype 2.0 working some time ago, and it never worked for me, I don't remember the exact problem(s), but I do remember that my opinion of both skype 2 and the port maintainer has not exactly increased ...

Note that for reasons unknown net/skype12 has IGNORE set if you're using FreeBSD 7, so remove that line:
IGNORE= Legacy version, Use net/skype

Yes, indeed. Skype2 and linux_base-fc6 are far away from a stable version. I've tried some other linux apps also - linux-realplayer and it crashesh just like skype2. It seems that the problem is in linux_base-fc6. Now I'm with linux_base-fc4 and skype12 as you suggested. In fact with the linux_base-fc4 port installed RealPlayer works fine.

Well it might not be skype2, but at least now I can chat with my friends on skype. Thanks!
